Complex health initiatives rarely fail because of weak expertise. They stall when expertise is not aligned.
In tongue cancer care, a recurring issue had emerged: highly capable clinicians and allied health professionals working across institutions — but without a structured forum to integrate perspectives across the full patient journey.
I led a multidisciplinary initiative that brought together surgeons, oncologists, epidemiologists, nurses, allied health professionals, and ethics specialists to examine the entire care pathway — from early detection through survivorship and palliative care.
This work produced a structured model for multidisciplinary dialogue, shared learning, and coordinated decision-making across complex clinical environments.
